At the place where is only 44 kilimoters or less than an hour drive from Seoul, the 3rd Tunnel was discovered in October 1978. In structure, the 3rd Tunnel is almost identical  to 2nd Tunnel (which is 1.635 kilometrer-long), and it is 1.95 meters high and 2.1 meters wide. The tunnel penetrates 435 meters to the south of the Military Demarcation Line(MDL) at a point only  4 kilometers southward from the Truce Village of Panmunjeom. It runs through bedrock at a depth of about 73 meters below ground. It is capable of moving a full division per hour with their weapons. It is evidently designed for a  suprise attack on Seoul. It can be known to be made by North Korea to see the trace of digging southward. Passing through the Freedom Bridge, the prisoneres of 6.25 Korean war were exchanged to go home as their wish. Dora Mt.Observatory is the nearest site to see the North Korea for visitors and they can see also Dora Station connecting south and north railroad.
